How to Embed a Lofi Music Widget in Notion — Step by Step

Google AdSense — 728×90

Notion is one of the most popular knowledge and productivity tools in the world — but most people use it as a silent text editor. In 10 minutes you can turn it into a fully functional focus workspace with live lofi music and ambient sounds running directly inside the page.

Why add ambient sound to Notion?

Research from the University of Cambridge shows that gentle background music — especially lofi hip hop — can improve concentration on repetitive tasks by up to 40%. Ambient sounds like rain or café noise add an additional "white noise" masking layer that drowns out distracting sounds in your environment.

Combining Notion (your task and note organiser) with LofiSpace (your ambient sound layer) creates a single focused environment where everything you need is in one place.

Step 1: Set up your workspace on LofiSpace

  1. Go to LofiSpace Workspace or our dedicated Notion Widget page
  2. Choose a lofi music stream — see our lofi music guide for genre recommendations
  3. Open the Sounds panel and mix your ambient sounds. The most effective study combination: Rain at 55% + Café at 30%
  4. Pick an animated background scene that matches your vibe
  5. Copy the URL from your browser — it contains all your settings

Step 2: Embed in Notion

In any Notion page, type /embed and press Enter. Paste the LofiSpace URL you copied. Notion renders it as an interactive frame — you can play, pause, and adjust the music without leaving Notion.

Tip: Drag the bottom edge of the embed block to resize it. A height of 300–400px sits comfortably in a sidebar column without dominating the page.

Step 3: Create a two-column study layout

The best Notion setup puts LofiSpace in a right-hand column next to your task list or notes. Create columns by dragging a block next to another — Notion shows a blue vertical divider when you're in the right position. Your left column holds your notes and tasks; your right column holds the ambient player.

Best ambient sound combinations for Notion studying

  • 🌧️ Rain + Café: the classic. Ideal for morning work-from-home sessions.
  • 🔥 Fire + Light wind: cosy winter reading. Great for journaling and light review.
  • 🌊 Ocean waves + Lofi: creative afternoon sessions. Relaxed but engaged.
  • ⛈️ Thunderstorm + Heavy rain: deadline focus mode. Maximum noise masking.

Your shareable Notion study room

Once you have your perfect setup, copy the LofiSpace URL and save it in your Notion database. Every time you open that page and click the embed, your exact sound mix — music genre, ambient volumes, scene — loads instantly. No reconfiguring.

You can also share the URL with a friend who uses Notion. They open it and get the exact same study environment — a simple form of virtual "study with me."

Other widgets to pair with LofiSpace in Notion

  • Pomodoro timer: LofiSpace has a built-in timer — or embed a separate timer widget alongside
  • To-do database: Notion's task view next to the ambient player keeps everything in one screen
  • Habit tracker: track your daily study streak beside the music widget

The goal: one Notion page that has everything you need to sit down, focus, and work — without needing to switch apps.
